IC-7200 USB port for PC control. Software Update: Type “USB Driver” Ver.1.00, Icom Support update 17.09.2008

The IC-7200 can be controlled by a PC through a USB port using the CI-V data format. In addition, modulator and received audio can also be transferred over the USB cable. By using appropriate external software, you can record incoming call and/or transmit preprogrammed messages from your PC.

Note: The USB Driver, it is installed in the PC connected to the radio via the USB port (tnx Adam va7oj)

When the transceiver is connected to a PC with the USB (Universal Serial Bus) cable (third party), the following operations can be performed:
- Remote control operation (CI-V: Icom Communication Interface-V) by the PC, software (third party) may be required;
- Receiver audio output to the PC, format: data 16-bit; Sampling rate 8/11.025/16/22.05/32/44.1/48kHz;
- Modulation imput from the PC, format: data 16-bit; Sampling rate 32/44.1/48kHz;
The receiver audio is always output regardless of the squelch condition (open/close) and output level cannot be adjusted with the [AF] control; The modulation imput can be used when SSB/SSB-D, AM/AM-D mode is in use. From the set  item (DataOFF/Data ON) and USB imput level see p. 77 on the IC-7200 istruction manual for details setting.

WSPR by K1JT’s - I0NAA, Mario da Assisi ha scritto: “sono finalmente riuscito ad attivarmi  in WSPR , operando sulla interessante Banda dei 30m (10.140MHz). Ecco la doppia schermata che fa vedere le stazioni che ho ricevuto il giorno 08 Settembre 2008,  compreso il QSO delle 20:44 ed il rapporto  ricevuto da EB1APK via  http://wsprnet.org/… Oltre 1400km CON SOLI 5W e un dipolo che tocca quasi il tetto di casa ! Questo programma di K1JT implementa la trasmissione e la ricezione digitale tramite la soundcard ed è utilizzabile con segnali estremamente deboli!
Un QSO in modalità WSPR  risulta piu’ lento rispetto ad altri modi digitali quale per esempio JT65B usato per EME , a causa del protocollo molto robusto, ma i risultati possono essere migliori !

C’è anche un Network per lo scanbio in tempo reale di informazioni sulla Propagazione dei segnali deboli con un folto gruppo di radioamatori attivi in QRP e QRPp che utilizzano il protocollo digitale MEPT_JT(”Manned Experimental Propagation Tests, by K1JT ) implementato in WSPR    Vedi Link

This is the double screen-shot that shows the stations that I received on 8th September, 2008 where is the QSO of 20:44 and the report  received from EB1APK via  http://wsprnet.org/… More than 1400km WITH ONLY 5W and a dipole that almost touches the roof of the house !”
WSPR QSO is slower compared to other digital modes like JT65B used for EME due to strong protocol used, but results could be better !

Ther is also a network for the real time exchange of information on the propagation of  Weak Signal with a group of amateur radio operators working QRP and QRPp  that use the  MEPT_JT   “Manned Experimental Propagation Tests, by K1JT )  protocol implemented in WSPR . See the Links

IC-7700 QST Review and PA1HR’s QST data table.  Sulla rivista della ARRL, QST di Ottobre 2008 è riportata la Recenzione del IC-7700 HF 50MHz Transceiver della Icom, con risultati molto interessanti. L’apparato è stato recensito da Rick Lindquist, WW3DE National Contest Journal Managing Editor.
Nelle 7 pagine dell’ampio articolo di QST, oltre alla recensione è interessante leggere anche quanto scrive su un inserto ”Prospettive degli operatori di Contest”   Dave Patton, NN1N Membership and Volunteer Programs Manager.
Nella Tabelllina inserita qui sopra sull’immagine sono riportati  alcuni significativi dati, tratti dalle recensioni del IC-7700, IC-7800, FT-2000D e Elecraft K3, nella rivista QST della ARRL. Queste revisioni tecniche meritano di essere lette per intero sui vari numeri del QST Magazine per un confronto completo e sistematico di tutte le performance dei più recenti apparati : Icom - Yaesu - Elecraft - FlexRadio;

L’austriaco Hannes Arch su Edge-450 (Foto) sarà il favorito per la finale in Australia del Campionato Mondiale Red Bull Air Race dopo essersi messo in primo piano con le prime due vittorie della sua carriera in rapida successione: tappa di Budapest e  il 7 settenbre a quella di Oporto (Portogallo)
