Yaesu FT-7900R New Heavy-Duty FM Dual Band; Yaesu showed n. 5 new radios at Dayton 2009

The FT-7900R well designed front panel provides simple, safe operation. High power output is featured with 50 watts on 2 meters and 45 watts on 430 MHz. CTCSS/DCS Encode/Decode is built in. Over 1000 memories are available. It is WIRES compatible. Operating this radio is very simple and straight forward, and you may program it to your operational preferences via a menu system. [Note]: The new FT-7900R is for the amateur who does not require cross-band repeat as found on the FT-8800R Model-!

[EN] – Yaesu showed these new radios at Dayton, in its own booth at Hamvention 2009. It looks to me like they just re-designed the front panel and went with a different RF module to get another 5w or 75w of rated power output, and a more efficient implementation of the controlls circuitry and the N. of  memory channels.

I see they also updated the following… FT-150R is now the 250R with the 700mW audio and inclusion of the 1400mah NiMH battery, bigger knobs and modern look; FT-170R is now the 270R with the 800 mW of Loud Audio; FT-1800 is now the 1900R with 55W and Loud 3 Watts; FT-2800 is now the 2900R, with an increase in power output to 75W and Loud 3 Watts on the new model. Sembra di notare una riprogettazione dei pannelli frontali, il miglioramento dei moduli RF per ottenere più potenza output, una più efficace operatività dei circuiti di controllo, di gestione e più canali di memoria disponibili. Importante l’aumento della potenza out audio per un miglio rascolto, come nel FT-270 a 800 mW e l’adozione della batteria 1400mah NiMH, costruzione “submersible”. C.O.T.A. Award 2009 (Carabinieri On The Air) 195° anniversary of Carabinieri Force foundation. II0CC special event station report

COTA Award 2009 (5th). (Carabinieri On The Air, 195° anniversary of Carabinieri Force foundation. The special call II0CC was active 20-40 and 80 meters  SSB, CW and DIG on days May 23rd and 24th , 2009 from ARI Perugia. This contact allow 8 points for 5° Diploma COTA 2009, which ends June 20.  In the headquarters of Agello (Pg), the team has collected 741 QSOs!

The ARI Perugia operetors team: I0TIC, Odoardo IK0QBI, Enrico  IZ0FWD,Iari IK0AZG, Gianni I0KWX Vincenzo I0ZUT, Giampiero I0UZF, Francesco IZ0GUS, Salvatore IZ0PXT, Simone IW0SAQ, Gianni IK0YUT, Luigi. (23 and 24 May, 2009)

Diploma COTA 2009 (V°). La stazione speciale II0CC è stata attiva in 20-40-80 metri  SSB, CW e DIG nei giorni 23 e 24 Maggio 2009 dalla sezione ARI di Perugia. La Stazione è valida 8 punti per il 5° Diploma COTA 2009 che termina il 20 giugno. II0CC opearata dal team Ari Perugia come sopra. Durante l’attività fatta nella postazione operativa di Agello (Pg) sono stati effettuati ben 741 QSO!

IC-7800 aggiornamento software Ver. 2.20. La Icom ha rilasciato un nuovo aggiornamento del Firmware del transceiver IC-7800 in data 19.05.2009. Le informazioni, il download del file (ZIP da 3.84MB) e le istruzioni si scaricano anche accedendo al  link qui sopra.

Maggiori miglioramenti della Ver. 2.20 (ITALIANO)
La Icom ha aggiunto interessanti funzionalità nella gestione delle memorie in TX sia in RTTY che PSK31 con l’utilizzo di 4 tasti nella tastiera esterna. Altrettanto per l’abilitazione  di messaggi TX pre memorizzati sia in VOCE memory   in SSB che CW memory in cw,  con  l’utilizzo dei tasti F1 – F4 della tastiera esterna.  Consente all’operatore di gestire o no personalizzando limiti di banda predefiniti che  sono poi segnalati da un bip audio.  Per la sola versione Italiana: la capacità di estensione della banda 40m da 7  a 7.200 MHz.

Major points of the Ver.2.20 update. (ENG)
1. Adds the ability to send TX memory contents, while operating in either the RTTY mode, or the PSK31 mode, pushing one of the 4 keys on an external keypad. (More details of the external keypad are described on page 2-6 of IC-7800 instruction manual.)
2. Adds the ability to send VOICE memory, in the SSB mode, or CW memory keyer contents, in the CW mode, by pushing one of the F1 – F4 keys on an external USB keyboard.
3. Enables the operator to program custom band-edge frequencies. You can also hear a beep when tuning out of, or into the programmed Amateur band. The operator can now limit transmitting outside the programmed frequency band.
4. The transmit capability on the 7MHz band has been extended from 7.0-7.1MHz to 7.0-7.2MHz. The RX frequency range has also been extended. (The modification applies to only Italian version.)
