WiNRADiO © declares that the  new WR-G31DDC Excalibur receiver’s robust front-end (ndr: no preselectors filters!) is equipped with an ultrahigh-linearity amplifier which result in exceptional strong-signal performance. An advanced “dithering” technique eliminates spurios signals without significantly increasing the receiver’s nois floor. The superior 16-bit 100 MSPS analog-to-digital converter (ADC) provides exceptional performance over an extremely wide range of signals. Frequency range 9 kHz to 49.995 MHz three indipendent channels can be set separately.

Excalibur did not Preselector filters in the RF imput, has only (MW filter) a high pass for medium wave. Excalibur sample at 100 MHz (MSPS), but what really happens tuning signals around the frequency of “Nyquist” (100 : 2 = 50MHz) – [Note]: The figures SFDR (Spurious-Free Dynamic Range) declared by the producer is still about 107 dB. La WiNRADIO © Sezione commerciale della RADIXON Group Pty. Ltd (Australia), indica che il nuovo WR-G31DDC Excalibur ha robusti front-end (ndr: però non ha filtri di preselezione) per i ricevitori ed è dotato di un amplificatore ad altissima linearità che da luogo a ottime prestazioni anche su forti segnali. L’impiego di una tecnica avanzata di “dithering” viene utilizzata per eliminare i segnali spuri, senza aumentare significativamente il nois floor dei ricevitori (sensibilità MDS). – L’utilizzo di un Convertitore Analogico-Digitale (ADC) a 16-bit con 100 MSPS (Milioni di Campinamento Per Secondo) offre ottime prestazioni in una gamma di segnali molto ampia. La copertura di frequenza va da 9 kHz a 49.995 MHz e con tre indipendenti canali di ricezione simultanea settabili indipendentemente e rappresentati in grafica sulla GUI.

E disponibile tutta la banda di 2 MHz in DDC (in conversione digitale diretta) sia per le operazioni di registrazione che per la sua demodulazione. – Sono disponibili tre demodulatori per consentire la ricezione simultanea di tre frequenze di segnale all’interno della larghezza di banda di 2 MHz (banda in uscita selezionabile in 21 steps di banda  con larghezza variabile da da 20 kHz a 2 MHz e sintonia fine con risoluzione di 1 Hz) -
Excalibur non ha filtri di preselezione all’ingresso, dispone solo di (MW filter) un passa-alto per le onde medie. Per forti segnali interferenti si dovrebbe introdurre attenuazione, riducendo anche la sensibilità del ricevitore. – Excalibur campiona a 100 MHz (MSPS), ma realmente cosa avviene sintonizzando segnali attorno alla frequenza di “Nyquist” (metà della frequenza di campionamento = 50 MHz) quando tutti i segnali al di sopra di essa si ribaltano simmetricamente sulle frequenze inferiori!? – [Nota]: Il valore di SFDR (Spurious-Free Dinamic Range) dichiarato dal produttore risulta comunque di 107 dB. L’Image rejection dichiarata è di 90 dB typ, con un MDS (Minimo Segnale Discernibile) di -130 dBm @ 10 MHz e 500 Hz di BW.

Il software di Excalibur sembrerebbe ancora molto convenzionale nel settore Signal Processing. Allo stato non figurano notch adattivi, non filtri CW peak, si nota un solo noise blanker (contro i tre di Perseus) anche se può ricevere su tre canali in contemporanea e decodifiche il DRM ed altri modi digitali da integrare, come opzional a pagamento, direttamente nel software di controllo.

Coming-soon — (a breve) il GEMINI SDR HF/VHF  Dual Channel SDR  at 200 MSPS !! Nuovo prodotto della Italiana © Microtelecom Srl (by Nico IV3NWV ), dotato di ricevitore a doppio canale indipendente, in unico contenitore (210 x 80 x 190 mm) sempre a  conversione diretta come il Perseus, che non intende sostituire, infatti il suo range operativo va da 28 a 170 MHz. Ciascono dei due front-end RF sono filtrati da due preselettorei analogici in 6 banchi di frequenza. I segnali in ingresso sono simultaneamente processati numericamente con ADC a 200 MSPS/channel (200 Miliodi di Campionamenti Per Secondo!) I segnali ottenuti dalla conversione diretta ad alta velocita sono implementati con una FPGA di Xilinx’s della recentissima famiglia Spartan6. Ha un Generatore di clock con basso valore di Jitter (vedere più sopra l’immagine dei parametri Low-Jitter) per una Alta Gamma Dinamica fino alle VHF (compreso il relativo  valore dell’SFDR – Spurious-Free Dinamic Range)

Ricevitore per il monitoraggio delle bande HF e VHF, per rilevare la direzione dei segnali, ricevre segnali in diversità, per attività EME oppure per uso satellitare in doppia polarizzazione per sistemi di ricezione a canali sincroni, per array di fase, ad azzeramento del rumore. Attendiamo le prove!!

Icom introduces a direct competitor to the Kenwood TS-2000 TS-2000x!…. The IC-9100 has only one main DSP unit. In the 9100′s price class, it would not be cost-effective to include a second DSP board (ADC, DSP, DAC, support IC’s) for dual receive. No VHF and UHF at the same time.

Icom Inc. have shown prototype samples of the new IC-9100 at the JARL Ham Fair 2009 held on August 22/23 2009 in Tokyo. The IC-9100 is a HF/50MHz, VHF/UHF base-station transceiver with optional D-Star capability and extra 1200MHz coverage, SSB, CW, RTTY, AM, FM & DV modes, Digital Twin PBT IF-DSP 32-bit floating point DSP & 24-bit AD/DA converter, Built-in ATU HF/50MHz, Double superheterodyne with I/Q 2nd IF Mixer -  For HF/50MHz 1st IF Roofing filter 15kHz – optional 3 kHz and 6 kHz – optional D-STAR DV mode operation on the esport version, Satellite mode operation, and more.

Icom ha presentato, alla recente Fiera dei radioamatori in Tokyo, il prototipo del nuovo IC-9100 un transceiver multibanda e multimodo, flessibile e ampliabile con vari opzional come la scheda UX-9100 per la banda di 1.2 GHz, la scheda per abilitarlo al D-STAR (DV mode) e due Roofing filters più stretti da 3 e 6 kHz, rispetto a quello in dotazione da 15. –
Icom introduce un diretto concorrente al Kenwood TS-2000 TS-2000x… IC-9100 risulta avere solo un Main DSP Unit , per mantenere l’apparato in una classe di prezzo medio e contenere il costo effettivo Icom non ha incluso un secondo DSP Unit (con ADC, DSP, DAC, support IC’s) per un doppio ricevitore. No VHF e UHF allo stesso tempo.

Ha filtri digitali con l’IF DSP dotato di un cip a 32-bit a virgola mobile e di un convertitore Digitale/Analogico 24.bit . Ha le stesse impostazioni operative e due sole conversioni IF con la 2nd a I/Q a rejezzione di immagine, così come fatto nel  recente IC-7600. Deriva dall’implementazione progettuale del IC-7400 con le più recenti risorse tecnologiche sviluppate per il 7700 – 7600 ed in parte trae esperienze dal IC-910 per i 1.200 e per le operazioni Sat. Ha un display monocromatico (con due tipi da selezionare). Include ben cinque connettori di antenna, l’accordatore ATU per HF e 50 MHz e tra l’altro anche una presa USB “B” sul pannello posteriore. Il nuovo Yaesu FTM-350 GPS/APRS è una risposta al Kenwood TM-D710. L’FTM-350 della Standard sviluppa il progetto del FTM-10 con l’aggiunta di funzioni packet radio e capacità di GPS/APRS. Impiega un nuovo Display LCD di grandi dimensioni con cui Yaesu introduce un radicale cambiamento di stile! Questo nuovo Transceiver ricorda lo stile dei concorrenti Kenwood TM-D710 e dell’Icom IC-2820 compresa l’introduzione delle indicazioni delle funzione dei comandi sul bordo del display LCD. Da ricordare che Stanrdard/Yaesu già con il palmare VX-8R ha introdotto il GPS/APRS e dichiarava nella pubblicità: “Un passo avanti della tecnologia”

Our best info about Kenwood’s HF radio plans is that next year (probably at Dayton 2010) they will bring out a new Mid-priced radio (abaut 2000€) that replaces the TS-570 series, at which time they will start designing a new flag-ship, High-end HF +6m radio (abaut 4000/5000€) that could come out as early as 2011….

The new HF+6 m Transceiver should incorporate the latest advancements in HF radio design from Kenwood, who returns to challenge the market with this transcever, developed from the previous TS-570D(G) units. The latest rumors (in view of the mysterious way of proceeding to Kenwood!) indicate these strengths: a Mid-class transceiver with new operator-engineered features. New menu to user feature. New IF DSP with selection of Hi/Low cut DSP slope tune and VBT (Variable Band Tuning) that alters passband width, for rejection of nearby signals. The front panel will have a new design with new style for the knobs and buttons.

Kenwood ha presentato un video alla Ham Fair di Tokyo 2009, con cui preannuncia per il prossimo anno 2010 un suo nuovo Transceiver compatto HF/50MHz  ed  un nuovo Palmare V/U (si notava la scritta DATA e GPS) di nuova generazione derivato dalllo sviluppo del  noto TH-D7. Interessanti le immagini qui sopra!!

Le più recenti indiscrezioni disponibili sui programmi di Kenwood per le nuove Radio HF e VHF, portano ad un lancio durante il prossimo anno 2010 (probabilmente alla Hamvention di Dayton) del nuovo Transceiver HF+6m Mid-class (intorno a 1800/2200€)   derivato dal miglioramento della precedente serie TS-570D. Si prevede poi il completamento del progetto in corso di un nuovo apparato flag-ship, High-end HF+6m (intorno a 4000/5.000€) che potrebbe essere presentato a metà del 2011.

Il nuovo Transceiver HF 50MHz  Mid-clas, dovrebbe incorporare i più recenti sviluppi tecnici messi a punto anche da Kenwood durante la progettazione in attesa di questo evento da tempo molto atteso dai suoi fan. La Kenwood, quindi, torna a sfidare il mercato del settore con questo Transceiver, derivato dallo sviluppo della precedente serie TS-570D(G).

It looks to me like they just re-designed the front panel and went with a different RF module to get another 5w or 75w of rated power output, and a more efficient implementation of the controlls circuitry and the N. of  memory channels.

I see they also updated the following… FT-150R is now the 250R with the 700mW audio and inclusion of the 1400mah NiMH battery, bigger knobs and modern look; FT-170R is now the 270R with the 800 mW of Loud Audio; FT-1800 is now the 1900R with 55W and Loud 3 Watts; FT-2800 is now the 2900R, with an increase in power output to 75W and Loud 3 Watts on the new model. Sembra di notare una riprogettazione dei pannelli frontali, il miglioramento dei moduli RF per ottenere più potenza output, una più efficace operatività dei circuiti di controllo, di gestione e più canali di memoria disponibili. Importante l’aumento della potenza out audio per un miglio rascolto, come nel FT-270 a 800 mW e l’adozione della batteria 1400mah NiMH, costruzione “submersible”.
