Icom Inc. has released on 13.12.2011, the data of the ID-31A/E. The new UHF Digital Transceiver!

Icom will release a new D-Star portable on the market: a single UHF belt with built-in GPS and a completely redesigned control.  The ID-31E has a “left-right top-bottom” button as many mobile phones to navigate through menus.

Digital System: GMSK 4.8kbps digital voice (DV) mode and 128kbps data (*) (DD) mode communications are available. When using DD mode with a PC and the D-STAR radio, high speed data communication is possible. (*) DD mode is available with Icom ID-1 only at this time.

In DV mode operation, you can simultaneously send up to 950bps of data, such as call sign, short data message or GPS position (DPRS) with a voice transmission. When you communicate with other D-STAR stations using a D-STAR repeater, it is ncessary to set repeater’s call sign in RPT1/RPT2.

DV DONGLE, utilizza tre chip particolari, un oscillatore, i LED e un logica discreta per l’attuazione della sua funzionalità. Il chip, sono un FTDI FT232RL Convertitore seriale a porta USB, un Atmel AT91SAM7S256 ARM7 per CPU base ed un DVSI AMBE2000 Vocoder; HRO (Ham Radio Outlet) lo vende in USA, Your Price: $199,95!

Il dispositivo DV Dongle si connette al PC, tramite una porta USB e provvede alla codifica e alla decodifica del segnale audio compresso, utilizzando il DVSI AMBE2000 vocoder, un Chip full duplex DSP e un softeware DV-Tool. The DV Dongle connects to your PC or Apple Mac via a USB port and provides encoding and decoding of compressed audio using the DVSI AMBE2000 full duplex vocoder DSP chip.  AMBE technology is used in all D-Star radios to provide efficient voice transmissions.  It is also used in some HF digital protocols by vendors like AOR (Mod. ARD9000 / ARD9800).  The DV-Tool application used with the DV Dongle may be installed and run on Microsoft Windows XP/Vista, Mac OS X, or many flavors of Linux
