Nuovi firmware per IC-7600 Ver.1.11 e per IC-7700 Ver.1.21 appena rilasciati
IC-7600, la Ver.1.11 del firmware è stata appena inserita oggi 03.03.2011 nel sito-web della ICOM Jp. Il nuovo firmware aumenta i comandi e le funzioni per il C.IV control e per l’utilizzo del programma RS-BA1 Controllo remoto dei Transceiver sia via LAN da altre stanze di casa oppure via Rete Internet da qualsiasi altra località (Nota: leggere bene il manuale istruzioni RS-BA1 !)
IC-7700, la Ver.1.21 del firmware è stata inserita sempre il 03.03.2011 nel sito-web della ICOM Jp. Comprende tutti gli aggiornamenti precedenti, le nuove funzioni per RS-BA1 Controllo remoto ecc. in più Icom introduce qui miglioramenti alle funzioni della Unità DSP.

→ The configurable range of the CI-V address has changed to between 01h and DFh
→ Additional functions for CI-V commands are provided to support the RS-BA1 (Remote IP), as described on the Icom update information in PDF format. Command 10 has changed to be used not only to send tuning step settings, but also to read the.
While transmitting in the CW mode, or if the Break-in function is ON, the transceiver transmits CW code when the PC sends this comman, etc.
→ A new feature, the Time-Out Timer (CI-V) function is added to the Others Set mod. Turns the Time-Out Timer function ON (3, 5, 10, 20 or 30 minutes) or OFF. Increased security: If a continuous transmission exceeds the selected time period, this function will cut off the transmission, to prevent a prolonged transmission. (default: OFF)

About the Remote control system:
An RS-BA1® remote control system consists of at least one PC, which is used as a Base station (Server) and at least one PC, which is used as a Remote station (Client). Both PCs have to be connected with a network. [Note] Click the Remoting a Icom Radios picture to enlarge
Radios are physically connected to the Base station, and the Remote station can operate the radios through the network. In the remote control system, CI-V commands, control commands such as “Connect” and “Disconnect,” and audio are exchanged between a Base station and a Remote station, through their Remote Utilities.
Most functions and modes of your transceiver, including interference rejection functions and IF filter settings, can be controlled. Also, S-meter and SWR can be observed – Rx Voice recording function available and more.

The DSP IF filter shape factor (-6/-60 dB). This is the ratio of the -60 dB bandwidth to the -6 dB bandwidth, which is a figure of merit for the filter’s adjacent-channel’s rejection. The lower the shape factor, the “tighter” the filter. – The two type of DSP filter shape factor for each SSB, SSB-Data and CW can be selected independently from soft and sharp.
A sharp profile with a flat passband and soft profile with a more rounded passband (Twin Passband Tuning [TWIN-PBT] is also easily provided, which enables the filter sides to be both indipendently moved and narrowed, the DSP also provides audio filtering and shaping functions). Depending on the operating situation, for example handling a pile-up or receiving a very weak signal, you can flexibly change sharp and soft filter shapes or reduce or shift the filter width, even while receiving a signal, by a simple push of a front panel key. I could not find any fault with the Transceiver IC-7600. This radio promises to be a worthy replacement for the tried and proven IC-756Pro3! – Many Thanks Adam, by www.radiocronache.com.
Clarification: The test on pag. 8, par. 2) of this report is for Reciprocal Mixing Noise, not IMD dynamic range – Precisazione: La prova a pag. 8, par.2) della relazione riguarda la reciproca miscelazione con il rumore di fase del LO, non sono valori della gamma dinamica IMD.
Questo eccellente rapporto, realizzato da VA7OJ/AB4OJ, Adam, descrive dettagliatamente la valutazione del nuovo IC-7600 S/N #0201203 dal punto di vista dell’utente. Poi sull’Appendice 1) vengono riportati, con molti dettagli tecnici, misure strumentali e diagrammi, molti risultati dei test principali eseguiti sul transceiver nel proprio laboratorio RF. Adam ha potuto utilizzare, per un certo numero di giorni, l’IC-7600 nel suo shack, quindi ha avuto l’opportunità di usare la radio e valutarne le principali caratteristiche compreso il comportamento in aria – Adam ha testato il livello di uscita RX Baseband dalla porta USB utilizzando DM780*, con l’interfaccia di Ham Radio Deluxe (* HRD by HB9DRV), l’IC-7600 ha mostrato subito nel computer l’indicazione “USB Audio Codec” e HRD ha cominciato a lavorare.
Al par. 20) Conclusioni, di questa ampia relazione, Adam scrive: “”Dopo alcuni giorni trascorsi piacevolmente nella “cabina di pilotaggio” dell’IC-7600, sono molto favorevolmente impressionato dalla sua solida e raffinata struttura, dall’attraente e informativo display, dal facile approccio operativo molto intuitivo, dall’impressionante serie di eccellenti funzioni e per le prestazioni in-aria. L’apparato si pone in una classe di prezzo che è tra il Pro3 e l’IC-7700. Icom com un suo colpo vincente ha abilmente introdotto una nuova interfaccia USB per il computer”" -

IT: IC-7600 ha lo stesso circuito del IC-7800 e IC-7700 non avendo più lo statio IF a 455kHz e quindi un terzo mixer come il Pro3. Questo evita sia il rischio di altri seganli spuri che l’ulteriore fase di rumore del mixer, fattori di distorsione e di intermodulazione.
IC-7600, utilizza un sistema a doppia conversione superheterodina, con l’impiego di un mixer a reiezione d’immagine (tipo SDR I/Q mixer) nello stadio della 2nd IF che migliora la “imband IMD”. Il sistema a doppia conversione necessita di maggior tecnologia però si riduce notevolmente la distorsione del segnale e la relativa elaborazione a media frequenza con il risultato di ottenere un segnale di miglior fedeltà all’ingresso del codec A/D e quindi all’unità di elaborazione digitale DSP Unit. TMS320C6726BRFP – 266MHz clock – 32bit floating point – Capacity = 1600MFLOPS
[Note] Nel cosidetto I/Q Mixer il segnale di 1st IF viene splittato in due segnali di uguale frequenza per essere amplificati da due IF AMPs e poi inviati al 2nd mixer a reiezione di immagine. Le due componenti di questo segnale RX IF, come si vede dallo schema a blocchi, vengono miscelati con due segnali alla stessa frequenza attraverso lo split e sfasamento dell’OL di 90 gradi. I segnali IF sfasati di 90 gradi I (In fase) Q (Quadratura) così ottenuti vengono ricomposti da un rifasatore e poi elaborati digitalmente, attraverdo il convertitore A/D, dal DSP Unit, che per il progetto richiede ottime conoscenze tecniche ed un elevato sviluppo del software residente nel circuito del DSP Unit, nello stesso Transceiver che è complessivamente gestito dal software dal Main CPU.
È molto interessante il fatto che la nuova serie di radio HF 4100 della Rohde & Schwarz® impiega una simile architettura. Infatti il Transceiver R&S® M3SR Serie 4100, utilizza un sistema a doppia conversione superheterodina e combina l’ottima gamma dinamica di una radio con ottimo mixer analogico e dall’ultimo sistema di processo ed elaborazione digitale del segnale IF e del segnale audio. La frequenza della 2nd IF a 48 kHz è campionata, digitalizzata ed elaborata utilizzando i processori di segnali digitali DSP (nell’IC-7600 la 2nd IF è 36 kHz mentre sull’ IC-R9500 è proprio a 48 kHz).
L’IC-7600 ha anche un doppio loop AGC, uno analogico ed uno digitale entrambi controllati dal cuore del circuito IF DSP. Il segnale necessario all’AGC viene prelevato dopo il filtro digitale, così si previene l’eventuale bloccaggio dell’AGC dovuto a dei forti segnali adiacenti (“pumping” the AGC). Da notare che tanto il filtro digitale IF (Twin PBT, IF Shifth, Twin Peak ecc.) che il filtro notch (NOTCH, NR, NB ecc) vengono elaborati digitalmente nel DSP e sotto controllo dei loops dell’AGC.

IC-7600 employs a double conversion superheterodyne system, which has an image rejection mixer (SDR I/Q mixer type) for the 2nd mixer stage improve inband IMD.
[Note] SDR I/Q mixer: The filtered 1st RX IF signal is amplified by two 1st IF AMPs, then splitted into two before being applied to the 2nd mixe, as a image rejection. Each divided signal RX IF signal is mixed with 2nd LO signals to be converted into the 36 kHz 2nd RX IF. One of the LO signal is 90 degrees phase shifted before being applied to the 2nd mixer, and the converted 2nd mixer IF is 90 degrees phase shifted too. – I (Inphase) Q (Quadrature) signals are buffer and amplified by 2nd IF AMP. Then the 2nd RX IF signals whose phase shifter, then composed by the composer.The composed RX IF signal is amplified, then entered by the A/D converter to the DSP Unit. – TMS320C6726BRFP, 266MHz clock , 1600MFLOPS!
It is most interesting that the new Transceiver Rohde & Schwarz® 4100 HF radio family also employs this architecture. The R&S® M3SR Series 4100 employs a double conversion superheterodyne system, combines the unmatched dynamic range of radios with analog mixers with the latest in digital IF and audio signal processing. The second IF frequency of 48 kHz is sampled (IC-7600 has 2nd IF 36 kHz, IC-R-9500 has 48 kHz), digitized and processed using DSP digital signal processors.

RTTY operation can be performed without an external RTTY terminal, TNC or PC. Pre-set characters can be sent using the RTTY memory. The contents of the RTTY memory/received signal can be saved into the USB-Memory. Two data formats, Text and HTML, are available for PC data storage.
Built-in a high-quality DSP-based PSK encoder /decoder is built-in to the IC-7600. When connecting a PC keyboard, BPSK (Binary Phase Shift Keying) and QPSK (Quadrature Phase Shift Keying) modes are available for PSK. The transmission contents can be typed before being transmitted. The contents of the PSK memory/received signal canbe saved into the USB-Memory.
[Note]: When a PC keyboard is connected to [USB] connector on the front panel, the RTTY/PSK/CW memory contentst nad the file name can also be edited from the keyboard. In this case, a USB hub is required.

Twin PBT® operation: in SSB/CW/RTTY/PSK/AM the PBT (Passband Tuning) electronically narrows the IF passband width by shifting the IF frequency slightly outside of the IF filter passband to reject interference. The IC-7600 uses DSP for the PBT function. Moving both [TWIN-PBT] controls to the same position shifts the IF both above and below the received frequency.
DSP filter shape (Soft/Sharp): The type of DSP filter shape for each SSB, SSBD (data) and CW can be selected independently from soft and sharp. IC-7600 DSP use the TMS320C6726BRFP at 266MHz.
Roofing filter selection: The IC-7600 has 3, 6 and 15 kHz roofing filters at the 1st IF frequency. The roofing filter provides interference reduction from nearby strong signals.
Large LCD with LED backlight multi-function Display. High resolution spectrum scope screen, several times to select the scope span: ±2.5, ±5.0, ±10, ±25, ±50, ±100 and ±250 kHz are available. This DSP-based spectrum scope allows you to display the frequency and relative signal strength of received signals on the strengths of signals. The IC- 7600 has two modes for the spectrum display – one is center mode, and the other is fixed mode. In addition, the IC-7600 has a mini scope screen to save screen space.
Dualwatch operation. Dualwatch monitors 2 frequencies with the same mode simultaneously. During dualwatch, both frequencies should be on the same band, because the bandpass filter in the RF circuit is selected for the main readout frequency.

Push [MAIN/SUB] to enables the sub band access when changing the frequency to Main dial, etc. in sub band.
Adjust the [BAL] control to set a suitable audio signal strength balance between the main and sub readout frequencies. S-meter shows the combined signal strength. The dualwatch function is convenient for tuning the transmit frequency while monitoring both frequencies used for transmitting and receiving. Split frequency operation allows you to transmit and receive in the same mode on two different frequencies, on the main and sub readouts.
USB Rear connector. [USB] (Universal Serial Bus – B type) Connect a USB cable to be used for the modulation input, the transceiver operation with PC, the received audio and the decoded character import to the PC. Icom HP (http://www.icom.co.jp/world/support/index.html) gives the USB driver and the installation guide download service.
Sets the input modulation level of the [USB] connector from 0% to 100% in 1% steps on the Level set mode. The received audio output level from [USB], cannot be adjusted with the [AF] control.
