QST-3-2015I tradizionali valori di DR3 (3rd-Order Dinamic Range dB), IP3 (3rd-Order Inrcept Point +/- dBm) e di Dinamica di blocco (Blocking Gain Compression dB) sono “numeri” poco validi nel contesto di una radio SDR a campionamento diretto. (-dBFS per un ADC converter) –
Per questo, Adam Farsom, VA7OJ ha proposto di usare come standard il metodo IFSS (Interference-Free Signal Strength) per il test IMD (Two-Tone Intermodulation Dinamic Range) in ricevitori a campionamento-diretto (Direct-sampling SDR). – Adam, VA7OJ wrote a terrific article in the latest March/April 2015 issue of QEX Magazine. – I wish ARRL would standardize on tests, and preferably use the (NPR) Noise Power Ratio test methodology.

Audio590 Program for TS-590SG & S Management by G3NRW – TS-590S Ver. 2.00

Audio590 for TS-590SG & TS-590S (!!15/3/2015 has been updated to Ver.1.10 ) is a new Windows program that lets you set up and manage audio profiles for use with them, by G3NRW – TS-590S Firmware Ver. 2.00, ARCP-590 Ver. 2.00 and ARHP-590 Ver. 2.00 released 29 Jan., 2015. – See news and link below!

New firmware Ver.2.00 is for the TS-590S, not the TS-590SG! – (la V2.00 non è per la serie SG !)

Kenwood Update the TS-590S Firmware from Ver. 1.08 to the new Ver. 2.00 link below. [Note] Updating the firmware to V2.00 resets the transceiver automatically due to internal memory address reallocation (save the radio’s data settings using the latest versio  ARCP V.2.00! before and read  all official instruction!)

Audio590 Windows program V.1.00 by G3NRW for TS-590 Family

Audio590 is free (tnx Ian!) – It is a compact stand-alone program (around 135 kB) that runs under any version of Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows 8. – The program currently handles the management of audio and audio-related information for USB and LSB TX/RX (new version 1.10  will fixed item and changes from v1.0 are now in the updated User Guide).
You can read existing audio settings from the radio, display them on the Audio590 control panel, change them and then write them back to the radio.

TS-590S Nuova Versione 2.00 del 29.1.2015 – L’aggiornamento del firmware da Ver.1.08 (o prima) alla Ver.2.00 ripristina automaticamente il ricetrasmettitore a causa della riallocazione  indirizzi di memoria interna. – Se non si vuole perdere i dati dell’utente, salvarli utilizzando l’ultima versione ARCP590 –  Link to: Firmware V2.00 Info & Radio Program Control ARCP-590 Ver.2.00 -Trasl/IT – Prima di aggiornare il firmware e poi ricaricare i dati di nuovo dopo l’aggiornamento. Audio590 (! il 15/3/2015 è stato aggiornato alla Ver.1.10è un nuovo programma per Windows che consente di impostare e gestire i profili audio per l’utilizzo con un Kenwood TS-590SG oppure TS-590S. – È possibile leggere le varie impostazioni audio settate nella radio visualizzandole sul pannello di controllo di Audio590, quindi modificarle e poi immetterli di nuovo nel transceiver.


Audio590 consente di evitare il fastidio di fare appunti sulle impostazioni del livello audio TX / RX, sulle impostazioni VOX, impostazioni del processore audio TX e impostazioni dell’equalizzatore RX e così via. Questo per ogni diverso tipo di imput audio utilizzato. Tutte queste impostazioni sono salvate in Audio590 e richiamabili successivamente.
Audio590 è gratuito (grazie a G3NRW) – Si tratta di un programma compatto autonomo (circa 135 kB) che gira sotto qualsiasi versione di Windows XP, Windows 7 e Windows 8. – Altri dati e grafiche, compresa la guida d’uso in Inglese e i miglioramenti con Ver.1.10 sono direttamente nel Manuale (ENG) nella cartella zip del programma, link più sopra.

TS-590SG Sherwood Eng. added the Receiver Test 12/09/2014 – Manuals & Diagram 1-2 Dowload

TS-590SG HF 50MHz Sherwood Engineering recently added the SG transceiver to its Receiver Test Data list – Follow the link below to see how it stacks up – Downoad the Transceiver Istruction Manual, Manuale di Istruzioni, Bedienungsanleitung, Manual de Instrucciones,  Link below (Keyword search = TS-590SG  [product name]).
This device has been approved by the F.C.C ID: K44407110

The new model it will have the model name “TS-590” printed on the front panel !

Technology has moved on, so now Kenwood announce the updated TS-590S “G” model, which replaces the TS-590S stopped! – [Note] The menu setting in the TS-590SG is different from the equivalent menu setting in the TS-590S and the CAT command set differs significantly from the equivalent commands in the “S”model !

There are some really new features on the new “SG” model:
Enhanced RX performance 3rd Order Dynamic Range @ practical 2 kHz separation (revised circuitry around post 1st Mixer & AGC control system & C/N characteristic of 1st Local OSC) – CW signal is decoded and scrolls in the 8-segment of the LCD (like to K3) – MULTI/CH encoder is changed, with push-switch funcition – ANT OUT to use with DRV OUT terminal as ANT OUT (via internal splitter) to connect external RX such as a Pan-adapter (3dB loss in divider) – SPLIT Setting: push and hold Split key, push “5” key example then you can work 5kHz up in Split operation -TX Power spike comparable to TS-990S  etc. (!…read the official data) –

Adjacent C/N with conventional PLL/VCO – This is a method in which, for the 1st local oscillator, instead of employing conventional PLL/VCO, the output of a DDS (Direct Digital Synthesizer Analog Devices Inc. AD9951YSVZ) is supplied directly to the Mixer.During down conversion, the oscillation frequency is lower than it is in up conversion, so even better C/N (Carrier to Noise ratio) characteristics can be achieved.
