FTdx-1200 intuitive operability with the new Display & Panel layouts. The VFO-A & VFO-B frequency and status are displayed only on the main TFT Display. The trasmit and receive status, and the “basic” VFO-a, VFO-B settings and FAST or LOCK settings are displayed in the high contrast display above the Main Dial (dial using machined aluminium parts with torque adjistment).

QST reviews the  FTDX-3000 on April, 2013 - An favorable overview of the YAESU FTdx3000 100W HF/50MHz Transceiver on the QST magazine. ARRL labs including high close-in IMD3 data, but only -82 dBc at 2 kHz RMDR figure.

Con il Test NPR Adam, spiega che il Generatore di Rumore Bianco (W&G RS-50 il suo) immette un segnale a banda larga al connettore d’antenna e quindi carica tutti gli stati del ricevitore, il Front-end, i Filtri e l’eventuale Preselettore, simulando la risposta alla ricezione di multi-segnali del DUT in prova (come in realtà succede collegandovi un’antenna). Before installing new firmware, please verify your current version firmware with the following procedure:
(1st) press and hold the [POWER] key to turn ON the Transceiver, (2nd) while pressing and holding the [SCOPE] key, [GEN] key. [50] key, and [ENT] key on the FTDX-3000 front panel. The versions of each firmware will be displayed on the TFT main screen.

[Note] The rig has to be started in different ways for each of these two updates to work! The Yaesu “Firmware Upgrade Manual” (PDF) has the update procedure for all of the Firmware-modules (MAIN .SFL – DSP .dat – TFT .bin – FFT .dat), and for all Trasfer-softwares (!! FSW018 – FW-DSP – TFW – FW-FFT !!) not just the two module updates we got, so save that PDF file for future use!

L’ultima voce dovrebbe consentire ora di bloccare sì il VFO (esempio A), ma adesso si permette in modo SPLIT (tenendo premuto il tasto TXW) di sintonizzare ancora il VFO (esempio il B), … una buona cosa quando si sta cercando di ascoltare le stazioni chiamanti nel Pile-Up … ora questo sarà di aiuto all’operatore ! (*) risoluzione di ulteriori problemi con il Firmware V.0112 (29.3.13) il link e più sopra.

FTdx-3000 Test Data by Sherwood Engineering Inc. Laboratory 13 December 2012 – Rob Sherwood, NCØB has published some results for the FTDX-3000 on his Receiver Test Data – Link to: Sherwood  Receiver Test Data

Find it behind the Kenwood TS-590S because close spaced DR was “only” 82 dB and Phase Noise limited (LO Noise dBc/Hz). I wonder if Yaesu will change their advertising claims? – [Note] Rob Sherwood has an excellent laboratory, but expect certainly also QST’s test results – (The QST’s measurement process differs from the Sherwood Labs approach)!

The Spectrum Scope has two modes: the auto mode monitors, and sweeps the band continually ! – Bandwidth of the spectrum scope may be set to any of six different spans: 20kHz, 50kHz, 100kHz, 200kHz, 500kHz, or 1MHz., and may operate in either Center or Fixed mode (like IC- 78 -77 -76-transceivers). On the FTdx-5000′s three EL “OLED” Electro Luminescence displays maximize your operation with useful and tactical supportive information. -
[Issue]:) OLED subdisplay broken (see the picture) one vertical white line or plus lines appear in them! – More people had the same issue (see the FTdx-5000′s Yahoo Group). - It seems that it’s an mortality of the OLED driver chip that is integrated into the ribbon connector of the display or so.

 On the first OLED one line starts faint and then become brighter and brighter. In the mean time second one showed up with it’s full brightness and thikness.
On the second OLED first line starts with almost full brightness then after about two weeks second one appeared dummy and thick, increasing brightness, day by day then starts slowly dimming or so – [Note] !! These events are reported for information only!

FTDX-5000 Yaesu USA Update Software with Main Ver.0123 (10/22/2012)

You need a serial cable from your computer to the serial port on the FTdx-5000′s. - If you use a USB port to serial interface adapter, make sure it is the FTDI chipset or so. – Update Software in the FTdx-5000 it takes a little practice for the many “DIY” steps procedures. – By the way, each update has all the previous updates, so you only have to do the latest one. - The tricky part is throwing the programming switch inside the back of the Transceiver!

FTdx-3000 Utilizes a new innovative and easy menu settings system and a new 4.3-inch wide color LCD displays the operating information and the status of the transceiver functions selected. (now… like Icom inc.)

To enter into SET MENU mode, simply press the [MENU] button and turn the [CLAR/VFO-B] knob to scroll Up or Down your desired Menu number displayed on the Main LCD and access to many settings and speeds up the operation.

The layout settings [MENU-1] are very fine and offer a nice array of features for the operator. The directional arrows (keypad) and [SELECT] button help you with quick and intuitive access to settings. (please click the picture to enlarg) -

The Main operating frequency is the most important in the radio display, with [VFO-A] frequency located just above the Main dial. The [VFO-B] frequency can be displayed on the 4.3-inch color LCD display (left). - For the [MODE] change (USB LSB CW  RTTY etc.) you have a single button with sequential selection or via Memory channels!

It is possible to switch between analog and digital mode by pressing one button on the radio. – The FT-1D uses the C4FM FDMA for a lower BER (bit error rate) like the professional LMR (Land Mobile Radio) radios. – The FT-1D can obtain a data trasfer speed 9.6 kbps and E-GPS function for Digital ARTS (Auto-Range Trasponding System) and more.

As you can see the buttons VFO B/A  are reversed!  than usual A/B -
The Main operating frequency is the most important in the radio display, with [VFO-A] frequency located just above the Main dial. The [VFO-B] frequency can be displayed on the 4.3-inch color LCD display (left).
For the [MODE] change (USB LSB CW etc.). you have a single button with sequential selection or via Memory channels! – (like [MODE] setting of the new Elecraft KX3 Transceiver)

YAESU: early 2012 release a Digital C4FM (4-level FSK) Handheld – The New Brand logos

YAESU Amateur Radio Division of Vertex Standard, has relesed 27 December, 2011 an extensive Publication in PDF:  ”A Digital Communications Guide for Amateur Radio Operators” (on its website) – The publication confirm that Yaesu positions itself for digital radio battle against Icom D-STAR business !!

Big news still: YAESU writes “early 2012, we will release a C4FM (4-level FSK) FDMA Handy-Talky and Mobile Transceiver into the Amateur radio market” !

News update: The new Brand Logos already appear on website of the ©Yaesu USA Inc. (earlier name: Vertex Standard US Headquarters)

[Note]: the recent corporate reorganization, that brings Vertex Standard’s LMR (land mobile radio) division to Motorola, and breaks Yaesu off into a independent corporation again, known as YAESU MUSEN  Co., Ltd,  for Amateur, Marine and Air-band business divisions. – The US subsidiary wil be YAESU USA Inc.  [please wait for the any official information !]

Yaesu Digital radio system that uses C4FM (4-level FSK), and is very popular in professional commercial markets, is known ad DMR (Digital Mobile Radio) [note: no DRM…!) is used primarily in the European and Asian markets, and is also known as dPRM.

Currently GSMK modulation is still being used by D-STAR in 2004, was introduced to the Ham bands. – ICOM D-STAR was the first in the game to promote digital voice and data specifically for amateur radio, and they have quite the stronghold right now – It will be interesting to see ICOM’s reaction to YAESU’s entry to the digital radio market that appears to be early 2012, we will release a C4FM FDMA Handy-Talk- (!! please see the image up! click its to enlarge).

Motorola will keep the Vertex Standard LMR, Inc. (Land-Mobile Radio, division), while the amateur, marine and air-band will be under the YAESU Musen Co. Ltd banner. – New Headquarter addres: Tennouzu Park Side Building 2-5-8 Higashi- Shinigawa, Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo and the US subsidiary will be YAESU USA Inc. – See the Link below for read the full letter!

Yaesu Musen Co., Ltd ritorna nel settore amateur, marine and air-band, la famiglia Hasegawa fondatrice della Yesu ne acquista la totale proprietà. Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) will launch a tender offer to acquire a controlling interest in Vertex Standard Co., Ltd. (JASDAQ: 6821). Upon successful completion of the tender offer and subsequent restructuring process, Motorola will own 80% of Vertex Standard and Toko Giken, a privately held Japanese company, controlled by Jun Hasegawa, current president and CEO of Vertex Standard, will retain 20%, forming a joint venture. On 5 November 2007, the Board of Directors of Vertex Standard expressed their support of the tender offer. Yaesu, of course, as one of the Vertex Standard operations, will be included in this exciting development…… omissis….

!! This latest announcement says that they’re transferring the  LMR business to Motorola and that the new Yaesu will be “wholly owned by the founder’s family”, I guess this means that Motorola is selling their stake in Vertex Standard back to the Hasegawa family… Do ut des !!
