IC-7700 no Dual Watch: Split frequency operations using the two VFO (A/B)

In the IC-7700 Split frequency operation is performed using two frequencies on
the Main and Sub redouts in the same mode. Setting 14.192.000 MHz for receiving:
Rotate the Tuning Dial while normal [XFC] the VFO/A (Main) frequency "lights"
and set the TX frequency to 14.197.000 MHZ: Rotate the Tuning Dial while pushing
and held [XFC] button VFO/B (Sub) frequency readouts "lights"; The TX frequency
can be monitored while pushing [XFC] (Single RX)
Nell'IC-7700 le operazioni in Split sono ottenute usando, nello stesso modo, due
frequenze leggibili nel contatore Main e nel contatore Sub. Settare 14.192.000 MHz
per ricevere: Girare la Manopola di sintonia mentre il bottone [XFC] è in normale la
frequenza leggibile nel VFO/A (Main) si illumina; Ora settare la frequenza di TX a
14.197.000 MHz: Girare la Manopola di sintonia mentre si tiene pigiato il bottone

Il transceiver IC-7700, per la maggior parte dei settori è ottimo, ed è anche migliore
(anche se non di molto) al'eccellente IC-7800!!
Si pensa che la priorità del progetto sia stato il singolo-Rx per ottenere le migliori pres-
tazioni con segnali forti adiacenti. Icom: ideale aggiunta alla tua stazione Contest
The IC-7700 transceiver, is as good in most areas, and in some better (by a small
amount) to the excellent IC-7800!!
I fell that the primary design requiremant for the IC-7700 was for strong-signal
handling at close spacing. Icom: Ideal addition to you Contest station!

Contrary to the statement on p. 3-5 (English version: A-6612H-1EX) of the IC-7700,
the numerical keypad NOT light when the [F-INP] key is pressed for direct entry,
indicator appears on the Display.

The IC-7700 PA uses push-pull 2 x MRF150 MOS-FETs work on 48V DC, rather than
2 x SD2931 as in the IC-7800 PA. The MRF150 is a well-proven device, and is very tough.

The IC-7700 uses an exclusive pre-amp and 1st Mixer for 50MHz, tuned to 6 m.
band and improve cross modulation characteristics.. For the HF bands use an
separated pre-amp and high performance DMOS 1st Mixer with a high-drive LO
16V p.p. The Icom I-Q image rejection mixer for the 2nd stage reduces signal
distortion through 36MHz IF processing and to the DSP unit.

DIGI-SEL: It automatically tracks the intended signal keeping the pre-selector's
bandwidth centered on the operating frequency. The center frequency of the pre-
selector is manually adjustable from the DIGI-SEL tuning knob.
IF-DSP: The IC-7700 incorporates the "build your own" filter. The IF filters have
been "tweaked", the operator has additional control with the digital twin PBT. Digital
and manual Notch filter, with more than 70dB of attenuation and the filter shape can
be adjusted in three steps (Wide, Middle, Narrow).

tions now in place in the EU countries about hazardous materials used in the manufacture

This is covered by the RoHS directive "CE". As manufacturers revise their manufactu-
ring processes (devices for the market UE) and certify their compliance with RoHS!

Come si può vedere dalle immagini la difesa dai segnali interferenti fuori banda nel
nuovo IC-7700 è affidata subito dopo l'ingresso dell'antenna ad una serie di Filtri
Passa Banda selezionabili automaticamente; Le Bobine sono avvolte su Toroidi in
ferrite grandi, con uso di Relè elettro-meccanici come sul IC-7800; Invece notate
i circuiti BPF del FT-dx9000 realizzati con induttori assiali simili al IC-756Pro3;
Allo stadio BPF fa seguito il circuito Preselettore-Automatico (Icom's DIGI-SEL)
con banda passante centrata sul segnale da ricevere; Sugli apparati V/S Yaesu come
l'
FT-dx9000 e FT-2000 il Preselettore (denominato VRF) è posto in modo inverso:
Prima si trova il Preselettore VRF e dopo segue il BPF;

Interessante che il PA-Unit dell'IC-7700 usa un push-pull di 2 x MRF150 MOS-FET
alimentati a 48V DC , piuttosto che 2 x SD2931 come nel PA-Unit dell'IC-7800.
Oramai gli MRF150 sono dispositivi ben provati e molto resistenti; Diversi Amplificatori
Linerai usano questi MRF150, come l'Icom IC-PW1, lo Yaesu Quadra e l' SPE Expert 1K
senza problemi;
Il PA-Unit ha è dichiarato con bassa intermodulazione e garantisce 200W output a full duty
cycle; Un effettivo "Quad Cooling System" mantiene una temperatura interna in un range di
sicurezza che dovrebbe
previene disfunzioni per cause termiche;

Lo Stand della Icom alla Fiera più attesa in Giappone, mette al centro della sua esposizione il nuovo
IC-7700 e sul depliants "Now take off the veil" ! Voci sul prezzo: circa 730.000Yen (inc.jp Tax),
possiamo valutarlo tenendo conto che in Giappone il listino del 756Pro3 e di 417.900 Yen (inc.Tax).

IC7700 - Il Transceiver HF 50MHz della Icom presentato a Dayton Hamvention (USA)

La Icom ha mantenuto uno stretto riserbo sino all'ultimo, poi l'annuncio del nuovo e atteso apparato
che ha presentato in anteprima il 18, 19 e 20 maggio alla più grande Hamvention per Radioamatori
in Dayton USA. - La Icom Inc. indica sulla pre-release che è in attesa dell'approvazione della FCC.
Dalle prime documentazioni disponibli è possibile valutare le struttura del nuovo Transceiver che la
Icom ha realizzato per mantenere il proprio livello di mercato nel settore che vede una forte compe-
tzione tra i più noti marchi per Radioamatori (Icom - Yaesu - Ten-Tec - Elecraft - e Hilberling), oltre
a quelli che ora puntano sull'impiego della tecnologia SDR con altrettante interessanti realizzazioni.
Nuovo apparato HF-50MHz con PA da 200W, che la Icom annuncia come: "The Contester's Rig",
incorpora tutte le innovative performance sviluppate da quelle del IC7800, ha un singolo ricevitore con
il 1st mixer DMOS a 64.455MHz e il 2nd mixer con segnali I/Q a 36kHz, per una alta reiezione delle
frequenze immagini e resistenza ai forti segnali interferenti. Dispone di due circuiti DSP con cip's Texas
a 32-bit floating point (dello stesso tipo di quelli del 7800)
con AD/DA converter
a 24-bit per sostenere
moltissime funzioni digitali ottenute con il DSP che, nel 7700 implementa le performance dei DSP che
Icom ha già introdotto nel mondo dei Radioamatori. Il front-end dispone, prima di una serie di BPF
commutati tutti da Relè elettromeccanici, quindi di un "automatic tracking pre-selector (DIGI-SEL) che
traccia il centro della frequenza sintonizzata con rejezione dei segnali indesiderati fuori banda. Dopo la
selezione del segnale RF sono disponibili due pre-ampl inseribili, quindi il 1st mixer e tre Roofing Filter
da 3, 6 e 15 kHz commutabili. Il ricevitore, per i 50MHz, utilizza un esclusivo pre-amp e uno speciale
mixer, entrambi progettati e tarati sulla banda dei 6 metri
- "improve cross modulation characteristics"
Lo Spectrum Scope ha un circuito DSP dedicato per una accurata linearità e risoluzione.
Il Display è da
7-inch (800x480 pixels) tra le multi funzioni previste c'è un chiaro"virtual" S-meter ad alta linearità e l'analisi
di spettro, in tempo reale, con due modalità: centrata sul segnale di sintonia o fissa
sulla fetta di spettro, con
la possibilità di
regolare la selettività (resolution band width).
RTTY/PSK31 operation - Sul display sono visualizzati i dati
ed i
messaggi relativi alle comunicazioni digitali (RX e TX)
con il decoder-encoder (built-in) senza l'uso del computer e
con il semplice collegamento di una tastiera sulla porta USB.
L'IC7700, nel frontale già dispone di due porte USB: 1 per memory drive ed 1 per keyboard. Sul pannello
posteriore, come si vede dalla foto, sono disponibili molti tipi di connettori per assicurare flessibilità d'uso.
N. 4 connettori di antenna commutabili, BNC Rx In/Out per accessori esterni o per un 2nd Ricevitore, una
porta ethernet (LAN) ed uan porta RS232. Una VGA per un eventuale Monitor esterno, un BNC per l'uso
di un x-verter ed un BNC per 10MHz Reference Frequency, due morsetti per S/P DIF, oltre ad altri vari
eccessori e comandi. Si nota la possibilità di regolare il livello di ALC (Adj) utile per adeguare la tensione di
controllo con Amplificatori Lineari di vario tipo.
Il Trasmettitore dispone di uno stadio PA di nuova progettazione con un push-pull di MOS-FET a 48V DC,
con Output power di 200W a full duty ( regolabile continuamente da 5 - 200W) .
L'IC7700 è dotato di un veloce Antenna Tuner e di un Low-noise Switching Power Supply - (built-in)
Il peso dell'apparato è di ben 23kg, le sue dimesioni (simili al 7800) sono: (WxHxD) 424 x 150 x 420 mm.
Tutti i comandi dei filtri digitali del DSP (Twin-Pbt), la selezione dei Roofing filter, l'APF il Notch
e il Digi-Sel
Preselettore tracking sono semplici, intuitivi e tutti disposti nell'angolo in alto a destra.
