COTA Award 2009 (5th). (Carabinieri On The Air, 195° anniversary of Carabinieri Force foundation. The special call II0CC was active 20-40 and 80 meters  SSB, CW and DIG on days May 23rd and 24th , 2009 from ARI Perugia. This contact allow 8 points for 5° Diploma COTA 2009, which ends June 20.  In the headquarters of Agello (Pg), the team has collected 741 QSOs!

The ARI Perugia operetors team: I0TIC, Odoardo IK0QBI, Enrico  IZ0FWD,Iari IK0AZG, Gianni I0KWX Vincenzo I0ZUT, Giampiero I0UZF, Francesco IZ0GUS, Salvatore IZ0PXT, Simone IW0SAQ, Gianni IK0YUT, Luigi. (23 and 24 May, 2009)

Diploma COTA 2009 (V°). La stazione speciale II0CC è stata attiva in 20-40-80 metri  SSB, CW e DIG nei giorni 23 e 24 Maggio 2009 dalla sezione ARI di Perugia. La Stazione è valida 8 punti per il 5° Diploma COTA 2009 che termina il 20 giugno. II0CC opearata dal team Ari Perugia come sopra. Durante l’attività fatta nella postazione operativa di Agello (Pg) sono stati effettuati ben 741 QSO!

OM-2500 HF by © OM-POWER. The linear power amplifier is designed for all short wave bands 1.8 to 29 MHz (including WARC bands) and all modes. This is a well engineered, well constructed and  well built PA. The ceramic tube, GU84b (4CX2500A) is a new generation tetrode, built for the Russian army (Price about €450) is used in a grounded-cathode circuit.  The robust tube and the same robust power supply with 2pcs of toroid transformers, gives 4 KVA continous input power. The RF part is clear and beautifuly designed. The ceramic capacitor fot Tune and Load was specially made for this amplifier. The protection system has made the PA “bullet proof” and SOFT-START system. 2500 watt on all band (2000 on RTTY) with 30-40W imput. The centrifugal blower ” Papst” (made in Germany) is quiet. Band switch MTI Multi-tech Industries mod. 86 (7 Kv/20A).  SWR protection, automatic switching to STBY, when reflected powe is 350W or higher. Intermodulation distance is 36 dB below nominal power. OM-2500 HF Amplificatore della ©OM PWER. Quanti modelli di amplificatori HF ci sono oggi in commercio ??? direi  decine di modelli e marche, ma quello che vado a descrivervi è sicuramente un prodotto che si colloca nella fascia alta, non tanto per il prezzo quanto per le caratteristiche veramente superiori alla media.
Cominciamo a sbirciare all’interno e vediamo come è realizzato questo “mostro delle HF”: – 1) valvola ceramica utilizzata è la GU84b/4CX2500A (tetrodo), che tra l’altro costa attualmente circa € 450 – 2) ventola tangenziale di raffreddamento Papst (made in Germany) – 3) commutatore di banda MTI Multi-tech Industries modello 86 (7 Kv di isolamento, 20 ampere) – 4) due trasformatori toroidali dell’alimentatore da 2000 watt ciascuno ! – 5) Variabili in aria con lamelle ben distanziate e supporti in ceramica. NB: Una volta acceso prima di poterlo utilizzare bisogna aspettare circa due minuti e mezzo, giusto il tempo di riscaldare la valvola.

E’ importante far notare che il SOFT-START system è efficace ed utile.
Il rumore generato dalla ventola non è fastidioso e  le vibrazioni sono assenti. Il circuito d’ingresso, grazie alla sua progettazione, consente di far vedere all’RTX sempre 50 ohm e quindi un ROS ottimale.
L’amplificatore è dotato di protezioni che rendono l’amplificatore a prova di neofita. In caso di SWR con potenza riflessa di 350W o più si commuta atomaticamente i STBY. Indicazioni/strumenti ce ne sono in abbondanza, queste servono per facilitare l’accordo oltre che un corretto uso del PA. Le indicazioni, tutte a led o barra di led  indicano: potenza d’uscita e riflessa, corrente di griglia schermo, tensione anodica, corrente anodica, tuning, corrente di griglia controllo, WAIT – preaccensione valvola, standby/operativo, FAULT – errore. Per quanto sopra non è necessario ricorrere ad un rosmetro/wattmetro esterno per un corretto uso del PA.  L’accordo dell’amplificatore non risulta particolarmente difficoltoso. Le emissioni non essenziali sono ben attenuate  3 IMD -36dB  le Armoniche a -55dBc  (risulta omolgato con marchio CE) .

Con una potenza in ingresso di circa 50 watt il PA è in grado di erogare 2500 watt su tutte le bande in SSB e CW (2000 in RTTY con una trentina di watt in ingresso)! Per chi fa contest o un utilizzo massiccio è previsto un alloggiamento  per una seconda ventola opzionale.
Utili per il trasporto sono le due maniglie (smontabili) sistemate nei “fianchi”. L’OM-2500 viene utilizzato da diverse stazioni contest di tutto il mondo e questo è già un buon segno.  Il rapporto qualità/ prezzo fa si che l’OM-2500 risulti un prodotto indiscutibilmente molto accattivante. E.M.E. Conference 2008, there were more than 168 EME Operators at the 13th International EME Conference 2008 in Florence, Italy (clik for very impressive big image).
EME, Earth-Moon-Earth è un particolare tipo di  radiocomunicazioni amatoriali Terra-Luna-Terra, che utilizza la Luna come riflettore passivo. A Firenza si è tenuta la 13° Conferenza Mondiale EME 2008 a cui hanno partecipato ben 168 Operatori dalle varie parti del mondo. (Cliccare per vedere una immagine grande!)

WSPR protocol (pronounced “whisper”) stands for “Weak Signal Propagation Reporter.” Activity on 30 Meter Band by I0NAA – Assisi

Un QSO in modalità WSPR  risulta piu’ lento rispetto ad altri modi digitali quale per esempio JT65B usato per EME , a causa del protocollo molto robusto, ma i risultati possono essere migliori !

WSPR QSO is slower compared to other digital modes like JT65B used for EME due to strong protocol used, but results could be better !
A full manual for WSPR  has not yet been written, but a Quick Start Guide TXT format; See the Link .

EME, Earth-Moon-Earth, un tipo di  radiocomunicazioni amatoriali Terra-Luna-Terra. Report e foto di I0NAA

Si è conclusa Domenica 10 Agosto a Firenze la 13ma CONFERENZA MONDIALE dedicata all’attività EME. Sono stati 3 giorni intensi con presentazioni e discussioni di altissimo livello tecnico su tanti argomenti. 

La Conferenza, che si tiene ogni due anni, ha visto riuniti ben 168 OM provenienti da tutte le parti del mondo. L’apertura ufficiale di Venerdi 8 agosto si è tenuta nel grandioso “Salone dei 500″ a Palazzo Vecchio.

I lavori si sono svolti, grazie alla disponibilità della Telocom Italia, all’Auditorium del Palazzo Telecom di Viale Guidoni dotato dei più moderni sistemi multimediali e con l’attenta e cortese assistenza del personale della stessa Azienda. Sul palco si sono avvicendati grandi esperti fra i quali qui possiamo segnalare per brevità: K1JT Joe Taylor, premio nobel per la fisica 1993 per una ricerca sulle pulsars ed autore del celeberrimo programma WSJT che ha consentito comunicazioni via Luna in digitale con bassissima potenza; I0KPT, Piero Tognolatti Ordinario del Raggruppamento Campi Elettromagnetici e Direttore del Dipartimento di Ingegneria Elettronica e dell’Informazione dell’università dell’Aquila che ha presentato un interessantissimo progetto per il coinvolgimento degli EMEers nel progetto ESMO (European Student Moon Orbiter) ed IV3NWV, Nico Palermo, padre del ben noto SDR Perseus, che ha tratttato le performance, in attività EME, dei ricevitori a campionamento a larga banda.

Gli organizzatori, a cui va un grande apprezzamento, hanno curato anche l’aspetto relazionale con programmi collaterali e con una elegante cena di Gala il Sabato al Grand Hotel Mediterraneo; è stato così possibile stabilire non solo rapporti personali fra OM, ma anche fra le famiglie dei partecipanti.
In uno degli ultimi lavori presentati si è discusso della possibilità teorica di comunicazioni radio ”EVE“….. Eart Venus Earth !! La prossima Conferenza EME si terra’ nel 2010 a Dallas.

On Sunday August the 10th was officially closed the 13th EME INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE dedicated to EME activity : 3 intensive days with high level presentations and discussions on several topics.
The Conference, that is organized every two years,  have seen the participation of 168 OM gathering from all the parts of the world. The official opening was  in the magnificent ” Salone dei 500″ in Palazzo Vecchio on Friday August the 8th.
The Conference activity , thanks to the support of TELECOM Italia, was held in the ” Auditorium” located in TELECOM Italia building with the most advanced facilities for conferences under the supervision and help of TELECOM Italia personnel.
The presentations were delivered from very high level experts and , just to mention few of them, we want to remember K1JT, Joe Taylor Nobel prize 1993 for physics for a research  on pulsars and author of the well known program WSJT that allowed EME digital communications with very low power ; I0KPT, Piero Tognolatti Professor of electronics and Director of engineering department at University of L’Aquila who presented a proposal to involve EMEers in the project ESMO (European Student Moon Orbiter) and IV3NWV, Nico Palermo father of Perseus SDR receiver that discussed about
wide band sampling receivers for EME.
The organizers of the Conference did an excellent job in taking also good care of side programs such as the very nice Gala Dinner held on Saturday at Mediterraneo hotel that allowed to establish relationships not only between OM but also between their QRA.
In one of the last papers presented the topics was on the possibility of EVE Earth-Venus-Earth communications ! The next conference will be held in Dallas, Texas in 2010 .

L’apparato è dotato di O-ring che gira attorno al bordo sotto ai coperchi sia inferiore che superiore. Come si vede il telaio in presso-fusione contiene le varie Unità in scomparti separati e stagni verso l’esterno;
L’IC-7200  è dal 22.07.2008, sul sito ufficiale ICOM Japan in inglese, è messo in  vendita, nel mercato domestico Jp, già dal  mese di Agosto con un prezzo suggerito al pubblico  di 104.790 Yen (inc. local tax )

Si tratta di un transceiver HF e 50MHz con un IF DSP di nuova generazione all’altezza di apparati di classe superiore; Dispone di un chip unico per il DDS ad ampia purezza spettrale; Il remote control è previsto sia con un Jack CI-V sia con una porta USB che comprende anche i due segnali di BF audio RX e TX; Lo stile è tipo ManPack militare ed è resistente agli spruzzi e umidità (no waterproof – no immersible)

I4TUD, Tosi Davide un radioamatore coi fiocchi! Nel bel paese di Copparo a due passi da Ferrara c’è sempre un via vai di apparati radio che hanno bisogno di soccorso tecnico e spesso, se non si tratta del “corriere” si incontrano vari radioamatori che con ansia si avvicinano (spesso si riesce solo sino all’uscio..!) per riferire i guai sopraggiunti inaspettati e vorrebbero assistere agli interventi..! Davide è un Radioamatore e sa quali sono, o sarebbero i desideri, ma per il bene di tutti: rassicura e assicura ogni suo interessamento e “farà sapere” gli esiti. Come si vedrà dalle due immagini si tratta di un Assistenza Tecnica  autorizzata dai maggiori produttori e distributori di apparati radio che viene fatta con passione e con un Laboratorio Eccellente!
